Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God: And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. Acts 3:1-10

Jesus sends Peter and John to the temple and they see a man crippled from birth. When the crippled man sees Peter and John he looks expectantly at them hoping to receive something special from them. Peter tells the man that he does not have silver or gold but what he does have he is willing to give and in the name of Jesus he heals the man. The three of them now go into the temple and the people recognize the man and are filled with wonder and amazement at what happened. When Peter sees the people looking at him as though he did something wonderful He preaches the gospel to the people in the temple informing them that it was not in his power to heal anyone but he healed in the name of Christ. Then he proceeds to tell the people how they can get healing and spiritual help if they really want it and that would be to come to Jesus for themselves, and if they will believe in Him He will help them just as much as He helped the crippled man.
Prayer for Today: God, grant us the faith, and then the opportunity to be healed physically and spiritually. Help us not to miss out on any opportunities to come to You for help and help us to believe You when You say You want to help us. Thank You for Your willingness to come to us, to find us, and to offer Your gifts to us. Help us not to turn away. Thank You again.
