And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob. And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee. Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran; And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away; Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day? Genesis 27:41-45
Steps 1, 4
Esau tells someone in the family of his intent to kill his brother in vengeance for the loss of his birthright and his blessing. He plans to kill Jacob after his father dies. Esau’s mother tells her son Jacob of Esau’s intent to kill and the plan is made to send Jacob away for a while until Esau’s temper cools out. No one but God knows that Rebecca will never see Jacob again. Jacob is ok with leaving for a while and will go to his relatives in Babylon, and will seek a wife from among the ancestors of Abraham, and Rebecca.
Prayer for Today: It seems apparent that we have initiated all kinds of responses from others regarding our negative behaviors. We pray to You today that You will take care of us like You took care of Jacob. Help us to believe that You know what You are doing and we can trust our cases in Your hands. Thank You for being willing to handle all court proceedings that we have caused as a result of our behaviors. Wherever you want to send us so that You can take care of our cases, we want to do it. Thank You for caring about us.
