Solomon’s Repentance and Change

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Steps: 11, 12

Solomon’s testimony of his insanity is written about in the early chapters of Ecclesiastes. He readily admits that he was full of vanity and confusion when exploring the ways of the world and of life. Whatever he wanted to do he did until he was ready to admit that there was nothing left in the world that had value except God. When Solomon came to this position he had made a full circuit and was ready to listen to God again. What a waste of time, energy, and life. What a wonderful life, and a wonderful example was available to Solomon but he wasted it by seeking to do what God had warned him not to do. Now we can profit from Solomon’s failures or we can follow in his footsteps and have to learn the same lesson the same hard way. It is our choice.

Prayer for Today: God, thank You that You were able to find a way to reach Solomon. Help us to be open to Your call when You find us again. Help us to not give up hope that You love us and want to work with us again, even if we have failed You. Help us to trust in Your love and Your care and to accept Your offers of grace again this very day. Thank You for Your love and patience.
