The Comprehensive Healing Power of Christ

And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about. And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee. Luke 4:37-44

When the people heard of the power of Jesus to cast out demons many came looking for Him. He had gone to Simon’s house and when going found out that Simon’s wife’s mother had a fever and Jesus healed the fever. She was healed so fast, and so thoroughly, that she was able to take care of Jesus and His disciples as Simon’s house. When the people heard that He was at Simon’s house they came to Him, after the Sabbath had passed, and asked Him to heal them of their diseases and addictions. The people followed Him around knowing that an opportunity like this did not come along every day and they were willing to follow Him to be sure that their friends could find healing as well. But Jesus healed and continued to preach in the synagogues to teach people how to come to God and maintain their healing and not to slide back into the addictive behaviors again.

Prayer for Today: God You know how many different people are reading this blog and looking at these ideas. We ask today that You will deliver us from our diseases as You delivered those people at that time. We know that You can heal any time You choose but today we ask that You will heal us today. We know that we can’t see you today but since we are reading Your word we believe that You are here with us and You know our problems. We know that all You have to do is speak and it will be done in us. Help us to be aware of our needs, and to be aware that You have all power necessary to help us deal with our problems in a manner that will be helpful to us and give glory to Your name. Thank You for your deliverance from our addictions.
