The First Disciples

Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou? He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. John 1:35-39

Steps: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12

When Jesus had returned from the wilderness temptations God’s prophet identified Jesus as the Lamb of God who would be slain for the sins of the world. Most people could not recognize that Jesus was something special. John recognized this and some of John’s disciples recognized something special in Jesus and chose to follow Him. They asked Jesus where He lived for they wanted to know what was special about this man that John saw in Him. Jesus told them to come and see for themselves. Come and conduct an inventory on Him. If He passed their inventory then they should follow Him and spread the message that He was teaching.

Prayer for Today: We ask again for Your help God. It is easy for us to pass the day preoccupied with interesting, but not particularly helpful stuff. Help us to recognize Jesus in whatever form He may come to us. You know how ignorant we can be and today we ask for enough discernment and enough wisdom to choose the right Person to follow in our recovery. Thank You for Your constant help.
