The Fasting of Jesus

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. Luke 4:1-2

Steps: 3, 4, 5

When Jesus had answered the call to come to John the Baptist, and was baptized by the prophet, and then anointed by the Holy Spirit, and commended by His Father in heaven. The very next thing God did was send Jesus into the wilderness to fast, to not eat for 40 days. God was going to have Jesus, the Creator of Man come to earth and live out a life like God intended for the lives of humanity. God would have us to see how Jesus, the Creator of our race, became the Lord of our race. Jesus will do what Adam should have done, and God starts it out with the fast in the wilderness.

Prayer for Today: We thank You for coming up with such a plans as that of Jesus’ life on Earth. It is quite the truth that in order for Jesus to be the Messiah He had to go over the areas of weakness that we experience in our lives, and have victory in those areas. Thank You that You then offer Jesus’ victories to us that we might claim the victories of Jesus as our own, by faith in Him. Help us to grow up and to act like Jesus in all our affairs.
