All The World Sought Out Solomon For Wisdom

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom. I Kings 4:29-34

God’s gift of wisdom through Solomon spread throughout all of the neighboring countries and all the kings of the earth wanted to hear this wisdom and get all of their questions answered. The most famous ruler to come to Solomon seeking this wisdom was the Queen of Sheba. She came with great riches to pay for this knowledge, she had her suspicions, and yet she came. When she was done communicating with Solomon (I Kings 10) her heart was totally enthralled with the glory of God. She too became a believer for all of her questions had been answered and more. She accepted that God was the ruler of heaven and earth and she wanted what Solomon had and God blessed her through His servant Solomon.

Prayer for Today: God, bless us like You blessed the Queen of Sheba, and all of the kings of the earth. Help us to seek You and to open our hearts to Your love and Your wisdom. Help us to be willing to ask You our questions, and send us someone like Solomon to us. Thank You for Your grace and Your mercy and Your willingness to answer our questions. Help us to grow in grace and truth.
