God Places David as King of Judah First

And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron. So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail,Nabal's wife, the Carmelitess. And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron. And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. II Samuel 2:1-4

Steps: 1, 2, 3, 11, 12

God tells David it is time to be the king of Judah, and He would arrange for the rest of Israel in His own time. David asks God where to go and God tells him to go to Hebron to be anointed King of Judah. Judah, the most powerful tribe anoints David in Hebron. David starts to the process of being king in Israel, but there is more that God must do to establish Him in His way.

Prayer for Today: Help us to remember God, that Your time in not our time. You have special plans and Your plans will unfold in Your time. We get easily impatient when we can not see, nor understand all of Your ways. Help us to learn to trust in Your ways and in Your plans, and in Your time. Thank You for Your patience with us.
