And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. Exodus 19:3-6

God brought the Children of Israel out of Egypt to prepare them to be a nation that would trust God, obey Him, and reveal His character to all of the rest of the world. They would be a nation of priests to help the world see what God looked like because they would see God in His children. This Holy Nation would be the opportunity for everyone to see how God acted, talked, and thought. Then each other nation would be free to decide whether they also wanted to deal with the God that Israel represented and revealed.
Prayer for Today: God, we can only dimly grasp what You are like. What we see about You and how You treat us indicates that You are a loving, kind, and fair God. Please help us to grasp the real You and help us to have a personal experience of victory over our addictive behaviors with You. Help us also to be a kingdom of priests to help others find You as well. Help our testimony to be accurate and real.
