Jael – the Female Warrior

Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. Judges 4:21

Steps: 1, 2, 3, 11, 12

God called to Deborah and instructed her to call a soldier by the name of Barack to lead Israel to war against the Canaananite king Jabin and his army. Barack declares that he will not go to war unless Deborah accompany him. Deborah agrees to go with him but states that if she does he will not receive the glory of conquering the opposing general but that the glory will go to a woman. Barack agrees to this arrangement and successfully leads Israel to victory. And as prophesied a woman, in this case a lady named Jael, receives the glory of being the one who conquers the opposing general. God has His own ways of accomplishing His tasks for His honor and glory.

Prayer for Today: We would not think of something so far outside of the box Lord, and we thank You for Your unorthodox behaviors and for your unusual ways of approaching problems. Help us to wait upon You as You tend to our problems, and when You are done help us to pay enough attention to say thank You.
