Fear of God

And he (Adam) said I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself. Genesis 3:10

Steps 1, 2, 4,10

God knew that when His children rebel against Him they would be afraid and try to stay away from God. God warned our father and mother not to rebel in the least thing. Yet they did rebel and what God told them would happen did happen. Now, unless an outside force comes in to help us, we are afraid of God when He approaches us. Because of sin we know we are naked, even if covered with the things that we make to hide ourselves. When God approaches us, and seeks us out, we are afraid and fear His presence. God will show us that He wants to help us yet it is a miracle when God and His children can be together and feel safe. Sin separates and truth brings together.

Prayer for Today: God we can see that our sins cause us to be afraid of You. We feel naked in Your presence and our sins are so clear in our minds that we “know” that You would never want to help us. Yet today help us to see that although You will tell us the truth about our sin, and our addictions, You will not turn away from us. Help us to see that You want to be with us and that You want to remove the sin and not us. Thank You that You love us.
