God and Man Meet Face to Face

And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8

Steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 11

Adam and Eve’s plan to take care of the problem is revealed as totally inadequate. God comes to take with them, they hear His voice, and then they run and hide. The impact of sin is growing larger in their thinking. All of us think that when the time comes we will be strong and take responsibility for our acts and then in the presence of God all our “good” intentions turn to ropes of sand. We can’t even stand up and face God for our actions, we run and hide. We run and hide physically, or we run and hide behind some kind of excuse. But we know that we have done wrong and we feel the guilt and pain. God wants us to feel the guilt and pain, but not to take care of ourselves but for Him to help us. But most of the time we are running too fast to hear His side of the story.

Prayer for Today: God we are clear today that we have rebelled against you. Our only hope now is that you are more loving, kind, and consistent than we are. We ask again for your help to know that you can help us and that you want to help us. Free us from our fear of you, help us to stop running away, and today ask for your help to restore us to sanity.
