The First Awareness of Wrong

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. Genesis 3:7

Now God is allowing them to “see” what has happened to them. They have rebelled, they have taken the plunge, and they are now going to get “wiser” just like the devil planned. “Wiser” in this context is not necessarily good, but it does mean that they will know more about life than they needed to know. They find out that they are naked. Naked in the Bible means that your situation has changed and now you feel guilty and sensitive when people talk to you about things and events. You want to yell at people and tell them to leave you alone. You start to feel “naked” meaning exposed and fearful. This is the “gift” of rebelling against God.

Prayer for Today: Oh God you know that we have turned against you and rebelled. We have felt the fear and pain of being exposed. We ask again that this time we will allow you to help us for we can not help ourselves.
