God Speaks to Laban

And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days’ journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead. And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead. Genesis 31:22-35

Steps: 9, 10, 11, 12

Laban hears that Jacob has left the area of Babylon to return to Canaan and he seeks to bring him back to Babylon. He has a larger force of soldiers than Jacob and feels that he can force the issue and keep Jacob in service to him a longer time. But God reveals His will to Laban in a dream and warns him not to threaten Jacob or to try to seduce him to come back to work for him. God has called Jacob and nothing is to stop his return.

Prayer for Today: God, we thank You that when everyone is threatening us with disaster that You are still there. Your power is watching over us and nothing can happen to us unless You allow it for our blessing. Thank You that even those who appear powerful and that can harm us can not get past You and Your care. Help us to rest secure in Your power.
