Isaac Wonders Where the Sacrifice Is

And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. Genesis 22:5-8

Steps 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12

Isaac wonders where the lamb is for the sacrifice that his father has spoken of. Isaac asks Abraham about the presence of the lamb for he has seen the fire and he has carried the wood on his own shoulder. Abraham tells Isaac that God would provide this lamb. History would tell us that Jesus was to be that Lamb that was to be sacrificed but Abraham and Isaac did not see all of this at this moment. Both Abraham and Isaac were obeying by faith in the information that God had provided them and in the experience that they had had with Him before. They trusted and obeyed.

Prayer for Today: God, we to wonder how You will handle our affairs. We can not see the future but we trust that You will be able to care for us as You did Abraham and Isaac. Grant us the faith that when You talk to us we will not doubt You. Thank You for Your mercies.
