Joseph Interprets the King’s Officers Dreams

And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days: Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee. And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand: But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him. Genesis 40:19-23

Steps: 11, 12

Joseph was in the prison for a period of time and the King of Egypt – Pharaoh sent two officers to prison for offending him. In the time that they were in prison they each had a dream and Joseph interpreted each officer’s dream. Each dream was fulfilled exactly because God sees and knows the future. The Butler was excited to be alive and promised to remember Joseph but he forgot him for two years after returning to the king’s service. But the seeds were planted and soon the harvest would occur.

Prayer for Today: God, even though innocent of wrong doing, we pray that even if treated poorly, or even illegally, help us to remember that You are in control, and You know the future, and that we can trust You, Your judgment, and Your plans for us. Help us to rest secure in Your love for us.
