Moses Chooses God Over All the Riches of Egypt

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. Hebrews 11:24-26
Steps: 4, 5, 10, 11, 12

Moses grew up in Egypt under the care of his mother, hired by the princess to nurse him, and then under the care of the Egyptian Princess. When old enough he was educated in the ways of Egyptian royalty. But when he was old enough he saw the inequities of how his people were treated and he chose to serve God in accordance with his understanding of God. He decided to lead Israel out of Egypt by martial arts and he killed one whole Egyptian and then had to flee for his life. For the next 40 years of his life he had to unlearn much of what he was taught in Egypt and had to learn about God in the quietness of the life of a shepherd.

Prayer for Today: God, take us, train us, and get our thinking straightened out, so that we can serve You and follow Your instructions. Help us to recognize that the world had little to offer us that is healthy but in You all is wisdom and power. Grant us victory over our thinking and help us to see You and to follow You. Thank You for Your love.
