Joseph’s Brothers Try to Stop God’s Plans

And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams. Genesis 37:18-20

Steps: 1, 2, 4, 5

Joseph’s brothers see him coming because they recognize his coat of many colors. The brothers think that they can frustrate the plans of God by deciding to kill Joseph. In the end they change their minds and sell him as a slave to the Egyptians, but God’s plans continue day by day to accomplish His holy will. Even the murderous thoughts of Joseph’s own brothers can not stop God.

Prayer for Today: God, we want to confess today that we often have murderous thoughts in our hearts, even against those whom we love, and those whom we should love. Please forgive us for our addictive thinking. Today we pray that you will not only forgive us but change us and give us victory over our addictions, and our addictive thinking. Thank You.
